I'll contribute a Scale Aircraft Conversions white metal landing gear set. The gear isn't such a big improvement, but it includes all of the cockpit and forward compartment panels in white metal. It's not all of the weight that it will need in the nose, but it helps.
I'll bring it to dinner on Monday night.

I also have a kit from Spanky for Joe.

Joe,did his aircraft have a name?

Woody, no problem regarding painting the interior of the turrets.

Awesome research Spanky! Rudy has been adamant in my discussions with him that the correct colors are OD over grey.

On olive drab B-24s of the 484th bomb group the top half of the fin is red the lower part is in OD,not white.Look at the picture and you'll see what I mean.If it was a NMF plane the top is red the lower part in nmf.

Clyde: As far as Spanky and I know, you are correct! That's the only decal you have to do because Tony has volunteered to do the rest.  The Martlet is decaled and the complicated wheel struts are done and painted, so after a wash and the fiddelybits, it will be done.  I have some bad news about the Helldiver and the Oscar, I'm afraid to tell ya. Cheers, Woody G.

Woody, from looking at the picture,it looks like only the outside surface of each fin is painted red/white. correct? when painting the red cap I will also paint some decal paper to form the bowtie. clyde

JOE.M: I have Eduards Canopy Masks if you want them. Let me know. Just so you know, when you do the turrets, you pretty much have to do the interiors, so if you don't mind, I will include them with directions, of course. Thanks again, Woody G.

Tony, LeeK, JoeM, and Spanky: Tony, I will bring the Norden gunsight Monday, and thanks for volunteering to be the decaler. LeeK: Thnx for the figures and bringing Rudy. JoeM, I will bring the glass Monday, and Spanky, thanks for your research, keep up the good work and volunteering to do the tractor and ambulance. According to Spanky's research, the tail has a rep top and white bottom with a red bowtie.  Cheers, Woody G.

Damn,hit the wrong button.One mo time,here's the 824th sqn.patch.

I've done some rooting around on the internet and this is what I've found for Rudys B-24.the tails were red on the top half and either OD on NMF depending on the color of the plane on the lower half of the tail with two opposing triangles that look like a bow tie.The other picture is a B-24J-5-NT 44-28276 named Hurry Home.
The serial number is yellow, upper tail is red with the red bow tie on the lower half of the tail. The plane is OD over neutral grey. When I find mo info,I'll let you know.

Woody,

If you're planning to be at the dinner this Monday and already have the kit, bring the Glass with you. I'm not planning to be at the general October meeting and have asked Lee K to bring Rudy from Chapel Hill. Lee has graciously accepted. Thanks Lee! We (the family) are making the trip to Fredericksburg for the model show and are going to be spending an extended weekend in DC, hopefully with some time spend at Air & Space :) if I can convince Anne.

Assign me the decal work. If we get a picture of the bowtie I can try to do one on the computer as well...Tony

I have a box of Airfix USAAF figures in 1/76 scale (close enough) left over from our previous bomber builds that we can use.
