Steve C.

I have a rental car reserved so I'm good but if someone can still manage to give me a lift that would be appreciated.  We are a one car household at present and she uses the car for work.

Scott said that he has a new Wing Commander on base and he'd really appreciate us showing our best manners.  This is his new "boss" and he wants it all to go well.  The way our "base tour" goes will help determine if they do this in the near future.   He asks that we refrain from any contraversial comments or questiong like:  when can I bring my cub scout troop out here for the same treatment......or how come yall didn't do this with my veterans club last year?   He'd like for us to simply focus on THIS trip and making it smooth with no unexpected surprises.  If it goes well there could be more events like this.    If there is anybody that could help Steve C. with a ride I'm sure he'd really appreciate it.  He lives in Willow Springs and his girlfriend is using his car.  Just to be fair Steve you might want to work on the other side of this coin.  You can explain to your girlfriend how important this is to you and that you'll need the car back for just one day as this is a very rare opportunity.  Hopefully between the two approaches we can make it all work out.

Hey fella's, does anybody live close to Willow Springs or might be coming by that way.  I'd volunteer a ride for Steve but I'll be doing really good if I get the kids to school and blitz to Seymour from there on time.

Hi Ronnie,
Steven N. Cappelson...I have sent a direct email to you with some specific questions and suggestions re: travel and handicap accommodation.

Thanks,

Steve, if you're going I need for you to send me your full name so I can forward it to the base security.  Are there any other guys donating F-15 models?  The more the better.

Here's the latest from Scott, consider this the final agenda:

Here's the deal:

Take hwy 70 East to Goldsboro
When you get to Goldsboro (Honda Dealer on the left) get in the right lane and follow 70 East bypass (sign will say Seymour Johnson AFB) the road does a 270 degree turn to the right (just like you are going to Atlantic Beach)
Once on 70 East bypass follow to Berkley Road exit (sign will say Seymour Johnson AFB)
Take a right onto Berkley
Follow Berkley to the base. Just before you get to the base there will be a visitors center on the right

Meet me at visitors center at 0830.

We'll do all the things we talked about and should be done by 1330.

Count me in but I'll need a ride... Girlfriend has commandeered my car.  Again, I need to bring my scooter which does break down into manageable pieces.  I am in Willow Spring, 10 minutes from Wake Tech.

Thanks very much,
Steve

Did you get my info?

I have 1698 in 1/32 and 1667 in 1/48, both in DS markings & loadout.

Thanks Bill, the more models we take the more real pilots and crewmen will know how much we appreciate them and what they do in a tangible way.  I just wish I had built one also.  Looks like we're going to get some press time for the base newspaper / website so we can flip that over into the model world to promote our club and what we do.  I'm getting the names together to send to Scott now.  If there is anybody else interested going please send me your full name now.  Don't miss this opportunity if you're able to attend.

Man that sounds like a fun day. I just cannot get the time off right now. Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be crazy at work and Thursday will be a clean up day. I would like to get my Strike Eagle to Tony to give to the base. I have jet 488 which is "Rocket Express."

Anthony Leger

Thanks Ronnie, looks like an excellent program. My plane is 494.

all the best

Okay guys, here's our first official email reply from Seymour Johnson on the trip:

The demo flight for Thursday has changed again. Sorry for the trouble, but please be patient as this happens all the time, and is out of my control. However, I think it is for the best! The demo is flying at noon on Thursday  which dictates a morning schedule now. You all will be meeting the Wing Commander in person at 0930 and present him the models. Also, I promised the demo team a model so save one for them. Here's the tail numbers, in case someone wants to do a tail flash of the demo jet:

"Lt Col Teel--We're planning to fly tail #179 or #232. I'm not sure what

details they need, but I'm sure I can get them if required."

The plan is to meet at SJAFB around 0830 -0900 then go tour the airplanes on a stick. Meet the Commander. Tour a -135. Go to the bomb loading area get up close and personal with an F-15E. Watch the demo from center stage. Meet demo pilot. Tour heritage museum. Call it a day around 1300! The base has put together a nice ½ day for y'all and are real excited about having you visit. They plan on doing an article, with photos, of your meeting with the Commander. Therefore, they need names and titles, especially of the folks presenting the models; like club President, Treasurer, etc... I promise everyone will have a ball. Hopefully you can drum up support and get the number of folks closer to 10. Those who don't come down will miss it!

I need names!
